Dr. Brian H. Sarter has been an integral member of Cardiology Physicians, PA since April 1998, bringing advanced expertise in cardiac electrophysiology to the practice. A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Sarter earned his Bachelor of Science degree Summa Cum Laude before attending the New York University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by two years of Cardiology fellowship at the same institution. He then pursued additional subspecialty training in Electrophysiology at Hahnemann University Hospital and the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Sarter has authored or co-authored over 30 publications in major cardiology journals, primarily focused on electrophysiology and cardiac rhythm management. He is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology, and an active member of the Delaware Medical Society.
Dr. Sarter is known for his exceptional skill in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias, with extensive experience in both medical management and interventional therapies. He specializes in pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, biventricular device implantation, and radiofrequency ablation for both ventricular and atrial dysrhythmias. He was the first physician in the community to implant biventricular pacing devices for patients with chronic, refractory congestive heart failure, as well as the first to offer curative catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
He currently serves in several leadership roles at Christiana Care Hospital, including:
- Associate Chief of Cardiology
- Medical Director for Heart and Vascular Interventional Services
- Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory
- Medical Director for the Cardiac Short Stay Unit and Wilmington Cardiac Care Unit
Dr. Sarter is deeply committed to both clinical and consultative cardiology, ensuring his patients receive the most advanced, personalized care available for rhythm disorders.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Sarter and his wife Eileen, married since 1991, enjoy family life with their two children, Jake and Darian. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, golfing, skiing, and staying active through regular exercise.
