John J. Kelly III

Dr. Kelly has been a valued member of Cardiology Physicians, PA since 1996. A native of Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, he attended Garnet Valley High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College. He went on to graduate from Jefferson Medical College and began his postgraduate training with a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He later completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the prestigious Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas.

Throughout his training, Dr. Kelly received numerous accolades, including House Staff AOA membership, Intern of the Year at the University of Illinois, and Chief Cardiology Fellow at the Texas Heart Institute. Prior to joining Cardiology Physicians, he served as an attending physician at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati—where he received a Teaching Award from the residents—and later held attending positions at Paoli Memorial Hospital and Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kelly is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, with additional board certification in Interventional Cardiology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. For many years, he served as Director of Medical Education in Cardiology for Christiana Care, mentoring the next generation of physicians.

With a strong foundation in consultative cardiology, Dr. Kelly has been in practice since 1991. His areas of clinical interest include cardiac rehabilitation, echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. After more than 30 years as an interventional cardiologist, he now focuses exclusively on clinical and consultative cardiology.

Dr. Kelly and his wife, Janice, were married in 1989 and are proud parents of two children, Jay and Brooke. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and working on his golf game—though he admits that success on the course remains a work in progress.
